Jia's Rise in Film, Ads, and Television
My journey at entertainment industry began in 2008, and since then, I have experienced the highs and lows that come with this profession. Born and raised in Mumbai, my love for acting was evident from an early age and my heart was always set on the world of performing arts.
I took my first step into the industry as a teenager, landing my debut film, Aashayein, in 2010. This was a dream come true, marking the beginning of an incredible journey. Soon after, I ventured into the world of advertisements, working with renowned brands like Medimix Soap and Cadbury. These projects not only gave me exposure but also strengthened my confidence. However, my true calling came when I stepped into television, beginning my journey with Balaji Telefilms.
Acting was more than just a profession for me—it was a passion that I nurtured from childhood. I used to practice in front of the mirror, perfecting my expressions and dialogues, all while being an introverted and shy child. The transition from a reserved individual to a confident performer was not easy, but working in production houses helped me gain the confidence I needed.
My family played a crucial role in supporting my career choice. Their encouragement and belief in me gave me the strength to push forward, despite the many struggles I faced. The entertainment industry is unpredictable—there are times when projects come back-to-back, and other times when there is a complete lull. I have also had to take on roles that weren’t my first choice, but each experience has contributed to my growth as an artist.
Looking back, I feel immensely proud of my journey. I have worked on around nine television shows, each one adding to my experience and honing my craft. Currently, I am part of Mangal Lakshmi on Colors TV, a show that holds a special place in my heart. This role has given me immense satisfaction and has been one of my most fulfilling projects to date. My goal is for Mangal Lakshmi to be a huge success, receiving the appreciation and recognition it deserves.
Television has always been my preferred medium because of the stability it offers. A well-received role can open many doors, and I have been fortunate to find security in my work. From starting my career independently to making my parents proud, every milestone has been an achievement. Mangal Lakshmi is yet another significant chapter in my career, bringing growth and new opportunities my way.
To all aspiring artists, my message is simple: never take your education for granted. Prioritize your studies because they provide a strong foundation, no matter where life takes you. If you dream of entering the entertainment industry, always have a Plan B. This field is full of uncertainties, and having a backup plan ensures you are never left without direction.
